Obituary for Wilson Wade Langton

Feura Bush - Wilson "Willie" Wade Langton, 74, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a long illness. Willie was born September 22, 1943 in London, England, only child to Reginald and Isabella Rutherford Langton. The family emigrated to the U.S. when Willie was 4 yrs. old. Willie lived in Colonie with his parents and spent a few summers in his teens working at the Catskill Municipal Swimming Pool which his parents owned until the NYS Thruway purchased the property. After graduation from Albany High School, he worked for his Dad & Uncle downtown Albany running the family owned parking lots. Willie worked various jobs over the years including X-ray Tech, parts counter salesman at One Stop Auto and Woodward Steel. He was most proud of his employment as head banquet cook at Herbert's Caterers. He had an innate ability for cooking just about anything.

Willie had a great love and respect for this country and its military. His interests included classic cars, which he owned many back in the day, U.S. & German World War II history, music of all genres including the 60's to ZZ Top, Pet Shop Boys, to Pink Floyd to Pavortti to Big Band. He enjoyed riding his Harley, flea markets, eating out at the Barnsider in Colonie Center and at Lombardo's. He watched a lot of TV with his couch buddy Lola - He enjoyed many a good party and a good time. He lived life on his own terms with little apology. He could be stubborn and rigid in his beliefs. There are few who knew him that didn't know of a good "Willie story" abut his many escapades! But, he had a sweetness and thoughtfulness in him and was generous to others. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elaine Steeneck Langton, his children Linda Mitchell and William Langton, numerous brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and his former wife Wanda Nowik.
