Obituary for Loren Wesley DeVoe

Loren Wesley DeVoe, 87, of Delmar passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. Born in Crescent, NY in June, 1930. In February 1951 he married Barbara Thayer and together had six children. In 1965 he and Barbara moved their family to Buffalo, NY to franchise Mike's Giant Submarine and Neba. He was the best "Sandwich Artist" in Town! After the death of his wife Barbara, he moved with his three youngest children back to his hometown area where he met his wife, Patricia Keezer and her ten children. Together they owned PB's Deli in Slingerlands and worked for the Bethlehem School District until his retirement to Largo, FL. He was an active member of the Bethlehem BPOE Lodge 2233 and the Largo VFW Post. In 2015 Loren and Patricia returned to Delmar, living at Delmar Atria Place and most recently the Good Samaritan Lutheran Nursing Home. Predeceased by his parents Fredenburg DeVoe, Elsie Craver DeVoe Bell and Howard Bell; his wives, Barbara and Patricia; sisters-in-law Shirley and Germaine; step-daughter Donna Herzog. Loren is survived by his brothers Robert DeVoe and Ronald DeVoe; brother-in-law, Charles Shanks; his children, Karen (Robert) Ludwick, Wendy (Thomas) Drumm, Richard (Kelly) DeVoe, Debra (Christopher) Henrikson, Lauren (William) MacDowell, Todd (Monique) DeVoe; his step children, Duane Keezer, Wayne Keezer, Deborah Larson, Diana Dell, Roberta Marsh, Wanda Keezer, Laura Whan, Benjamin Keezer, Christine Miller; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, December 8, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Our family would like to thank the St. Peter's Hospice Inn for the compassionate care given to our father. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Hospice Inn or the VFW Post in your area.
